Provisional ball
« on: May 19, 2010, 21:00:28 »
You hit a ball off the tee, and it goes in the direction of heavy rough. You decide to bit a provisional ball which is gives you no next shot.
You end up finding your first ball but its OB.

What are your options?
Do you have to play the provisional or can you go back to the tee for another try?

If the original ball is lost outside a water hazard or is out of bounds, the provisional ball becomes the ball in play, under penalty of stroke and distance (Rule 27-1).
