my original point wasn't that the ball had to have a mark or not it was to see if I'm required to announce before teeing off that I'm playing a titleist 2 with pink dots or can i tee off with said ball without telling my playing partners what ball I'm playing I've checked rules and decisions but cant find anything concrete
You will find that this is one of the recommended steps when teeing off as someone in your group may use the same ball marked in the same way so by saying what the ball is you are pointing that out for the other players. There is no rule stating you have to declare this on the first tee.
Sorry if this offends.........I played with a guy i half knew in the Suffolk Open many moons ago,who unknown to me had previously written 'Pussy-licker' on his match ball.First guy steps up and announces 'Maxfli one with two red dots on', and then this clowns steps forward and loudly announces in front of all the ageing Suffolk Heirarchy gathered on the tee; "Im a pussy licker". Nice one
Would have been better if he stated "I'm a pussy licker 4 Titleist". Why would it offend my quote?
Must be a Suffolk thing then....We teed off in a Hambro match several years ago and one of our opponents stuffed his ball into our faces to show us the clearly written words..."Kick Arse".Tosser.
It could offend anyone ! I was just quoting you Stevie,as your post was about announcing your ball and markings,to try to ensure 'uniqueness' in your group.Anyways,i can normally manage something 'unique' at least once a round without needing 4 blue dots on my ball.......
