Once I played with an old guy who visited the trees on every other hole.

At the end of the match I managed to avoid shaking hands by holding my hat in my right hand and clapping him soundly on his left arm while giving outprofuse thanks for a great escape game.

Mike have you seen the, "one cup, two girls video?"

I am surprised and disgusted that it has taken you this long to get that in!

Back to the OP  :calm:

- so is it certain that there isn't even some etiquette guideline that can be quoted from the rule book?

- that aside, does anyone think there should be a penalty/DQ for someone taking a toilet break on the golf course?

ettiquette aside and from a pure rules point of view....there is....its covered under Rule 6-7 Undue Delay; Slow Play

So a quick leak would not unduly delay play but straining over a huge dump might!!!

Excellent  And who defines "slow"? Is it the person marking the card or what?

Thanks

Would you treat having a dump in the woods the same or different to in a supplied WC?

I'd look outside the rules of golf and look at the rules of society - the law.  Surely defecating in public places is covered there.

Don't most of us play at private clubs who own their own land?  That's why I can walk around my course with a beer, but not Palacerigg - local authority ban on drinking in public places doesn't apply at Dullatur but Palacerigg is a municipal.

This is more a common sense statement IMO

Wouldnt you rather have your playing partner go in the bracken and take a shit rather than have him walking round touching cloth until you get to the green before he or she accidentally drops it. At least its not as embarrassing for them or as disgusting for you that way, I say this as I've been in a game where someone has had to run off for a quick dump in the woods due to a rather questionable breakfast at the club.

(before you start joking….. no it wasn't me, I make sure I go to the bathroom before teeing off)

I'd take a 5 minute hold up over a lump of crap on the green any day, plus at least that way you dont have to be anywhere near them when it happens.
