The links 3PW posted are dead, but he indicated Matrix resolved the issue already. As it is one factor of a shafts qualities, and the quality is available in some shafts...I'd suspect this would actively work against a well fitted shaft, and may help a poorly fitted one?

TTR used in most of the ones I've checked
TP line, Xcon, Altus, code, F7M2 etc

Good post Nick - very helpful.

On first viewing, you can't make your mind up as to whether it works or not but on closer inspection, when you look at the cluster of blues/yellows in the middle, it is obviously much tighter than the red dispersion so you have to conclude there is an improvement.

I think the main thing that struck me from the photo's though, was how well planned and layed out the driving range is! Obviously a lot of thought gone into that and makes me realise the ones that I use are really just farmers fields with the obligatory yardage markers on them! Where is it?

Nicky

Its at Ufford Park near Woodbridge. The two white flags in the foreground are on a green at 55 yards. Theres a green left at 95 yards and one right at 85 yards. Then there are two more greens at 155 yards on the left and 175 yards on the right. Two tiered driving rnage and an American Golf make up the complex (plus an 18 hole course!!).

Played 18 today with the Shotmaker installed.

First two drives were awful....no doubt as a result of not being able to hit driver in the warm up as a result of our driving net being closed for refurbishment.

Hit good drives down 5,7,11,13,15,17 and 18 though all of which went pretty straight with only a modicum of fade.

Personally.....I'll leave it in my driver for a few weeks to see if I can notice any significant long term improvements but TBH I'd say that it is no substitute for getting fitted properly for a driver. As for its value.....at £98 or so it is pretty much overpriced by £30-35.....at £65 I would probably see it as a reasonable value for money upgrade and if the inserts were priced at £45 a throw then I'd consider it fair.

Would I recommend it to others???? Probably not. Go spend the money on lessons. Hell.....go spend the money on some shoes and handbags for the wife and earn yourself some domestic credits for when you want a weekend away with the boys.

Do I regret buying it??? No. The benefits are there....but they are subtle.

Played yesterday and have to report that the Shotmaker came loose during the round.

Didnt have the tool with me so couldnt retighten during play.

I suspect that the rattling and vibration caused by my electric trolley travelling over firm bumpy uneven ground over the last few rounds since installation is a primary cause of this. I was able to tap the head firmly on the ground which seemed to reseat the shotmaker in the shaft (certainly shaking it afterwards didnt produce any rattles) for the duration of the shot....but at the next tee it had come loose again.

The torque wrench used to install the Shotmaker is "set" to quite a low setting....so the Shotmaker isnt really locked in place with any great force so I suspect may be susceptible to the above problem recurring in the future.
