Ok, this post might be a wee bit redundant, considering TM are on the verge of releasing a new range of balls, but I got bought a dozen TP Blacks and TP Reds for Xmas, and I took the opportunity to try out the Reds today over 10 holes. Not a big test for the balls, I'll give them another few tries on the next few weeks, but first impressions are very good, I really do like this ball. I'd previously tried the TP Blacks, and found them the longest ball I'd ever hit. Well, these are a kick in the arse off them. Seem to hold their line really well in the wind, come off the driver like a rocket, and stop pretty quick in the greens. Our greens are fairly soft, but one of the holes is better than the rest, as its elevated and only used during the winter, so its harder than the others. The Red really sat down pretty good on this green, and on short chips seemed to check up pretty good. Felt nice off the putter as well. These balls get a definite from me, and at £23 a dozen in our pro shop, I'll be buying more before he sells out. Will be interesting to try the new balls when they come out. A definite 10/10 from me, especially at that price.
I played at the South Essex on sunday and had a problem with the front wheel before I set off. I removed as much as I could with a pitch mark repairer but it was still clogged. The wheel was fine all way round the course but the battery was flat as I walked off the eighteenth which it has never done before. Funnily enough about the 14th I was walking with Stu when the noise from the motor increased so much Stu pointed it out so I'm wondering if that coincided with the wheel getting completely logged? When I got it home I realised I could remove the front wheell, the whole of the mud guard was clogged with compressed mud no wonder it was having problems going round.
The compacted mud could have been acting as a brake & draining the battery by having to run the motor faster
