Was there with David M, he ran me through the software since I'm a trackman novice. Must admit it was good and better than I expected but IMO Flightscope is a far better tool. Cheaper too!

I'm building a few combos, want to investigate a few others and see how they go on a less windy day.

Just to update this.

Wanted to compare the spin rates with the same shaft on different heads.

Shaft used - Miyazaki Kusala Blue X stiff tipped 1 inch

Heads Used - R11, R9 Supertri and R7 282 Jim Furyk Prototype (AKA The Holy Grail)

Loft used - 8.5 (although the 282 is actually 8.8 and the 9* R11 is actually 8.6)

I hit as many balls with each as it took took get identical launch numbers. Target figure was 12* and me being me i couldnt get near it to begin with so I gave up and came back another day. I could easily get 12* the next day so its very clear I need to figure something out! I got rid of all shots that didnt have exactly 12* launch and all bad shots, leaving me with a fair few to average out the spin.

Anyway, 12* launch and my ball speed is about 165 to 175 mph so my ideal spin rate is about 2500rpm on the nose, give or take. This shaft spins a little too much for me, so I was never going to get 2500 but that wasnt the point, the point was to directly compare head spin, so shaft spin could be interpreted better for the popular drivers and I could be of more help to customers who know their numbers.

I knew before hand the 282 is a low spinner and the Supertri is a high spinner but I wanted to see for myself, in figures.

Results:

R9 Supertri averaged 3875 rpm
R11 averaged 3250 rpm
282 Proto averaged 2700 rpm

As always the 282 just bombs it and the test confirmed just how high spin the Supertri is. The r11 sits in between the two and sure does suit the mid ball speed band of around 125-145 mph, perhaps why the R11 is so successful for a wide range of players.

Tempted to get the 282 back in the bag and find a slightly higher launching shaft because I can get away with a bit more shaft induced spin thanks to the low spin head.

2500 rpm with the 282 would be ideal and I can probably do that with something like the Kusala Indigo. So thats the next trial :)

Have you tried any callaway or ping drivers in comparison?

eg Cally FT Tour, Cally RHT and i15
WITB
Callaway Razr Hawk Tour 8.5 Oban Devotion 6 S flex
Callaway Diablo Edge Tour 15 Grafalloy Prolaunch Red S flex
Callaway Diablo Edge Tour 18 (shafted with same shaft as 3 wood!)
Hybrids Sonartec HB001 19,21,23 Matrix 8h S flex
Loads of Vokey and Mizuno wedges!!..and lots of putters!!
Wedges now going to +3/4", 2 degree flat.
Putters in general 36" normal lie and mid size or thickened grip and some with Balance Certified weights added...

Callaway are generally quite low spinning for me. I tried a tour Diablo that was very low but I just dont like Callaway shape / sound unfortunately.

Seems I've found the one!

TaylorMade 282 Proto @ 8.8* and 1.75* open

UST Mamiya Attas T2 8X tipped 1" installed at 44.75" playing length.

Hit 25 balls with it rejecting the weird / bad ones and got the following averages...

Launch angle: 12.2

Spin rate: 2325 rpm

Smash factor: 1.49

Ball Speed: 172 mph

Clubhead Speed: 113 mph

Average Carry: 288 yards

Average Rollout: 27 yards

Average Total Distance: 312 yards

Believe it or not these figures were directly into a 5mph coastal breeze with brand new range balls!

Totally delighted with this setup, best I've hit a driver in some time. I actually used to have a different Attas T2 installed in this club and for some reason I didnt get good results previously.

Going to hit some off grass with Flightscope instead of Trackman off mats this week sometime to verify the results.
