The Golf House Club Elie,

http://www.modsquadgolf.com/index.php/topic,15405.msg256171/topicseen.html#new

A top ten in Scotland?

In the world there are (to my knowledge) 4 places which are more like 18 holes on a (links) hillside than a golf course.  This is how golf fun can be defined.

Why does it not get more attention?

Elie is wonderful.  Discuss.

Good review and some great photos.

Don't know whyit doesn't get more attention  - maybe because of its quirkiness?

Does seem that it's the quirkiness and the fact that there are SO many plain lovely courses in the area.

Brilliant review. One of my first rounds of golf (after Gleneagles Kings) and has to be one of the most nerve-racking opening tee-shots (after Gleneagles Kings).

"Play Away" :)

Played it a dozen times but usually in wintery conditions and it's a great test of golf. Love the place. Unfortunately (for golf) my mate has a baby on the way next month so will probably give up his membership. Or at least we won't be playing it as a guests for a while!

Great photos and review

Had been thinking it would make a good venue for winter/spring event around March.

I seem to remember the guest rate being 3 figures.

Season 3 14.1 -> 12.5 Lanark Open
Season 4 12.5-12.6-12.3 2nd Bruce Sharp Trophy

Winter weekend rate is £45 incl Soup & Sandwich or Coffee & Roll

£5 less if 9 or more. Runs until end of March.

Jumps up to £88 per round in high season but can go lower depending on numbers.

Winter deal for £40 would be decent I would think if we can get 9+

Or back to Gullane for £22.50  :)

Maybe they're having to pay for the new clubhouse! :)

To be honest, i love the course and would happily play it again at £45, but others may prefer to play somewhere else eg Panmure, Monifeith, Montrose etc due to the history of those courses.

I'd be up for it, my only weekend off before the end of March is 25th/26th Feb though.

Yes, it's a cracking course but being a member at Lundin and Leven they are both cracking too.  As said above there are so many great courses in Fife.  It would make the top 10 for Fife but not for Scotland.

Dunno if its classed as Fife or not....but in terms of winter value, Scotscraig ( a former open Regional qualifying course - I think  ) is superb.......we are headed up there tomorrow - its £99 a fourball until the end of March......no fairway mats ( they have a couple of permanently positioned winter tees which in some cases are further back than the normal boxes )  and no winter greens......give it a go guys !

Those were the first 2 that sprang to mind!
