They really need to have a heavier head than normal ones otherwise they don't work properly - not balanced properly, etc. Its easy enough to reshaft with a specialist True Temper long shaft, of something similar but its really the head weight that's a problem. You can add lead (or sand before Nick crucifies me) down the shaft but not sure you would get the weight up enough and to be honest, you would have to put so much down there that it might cause other problems.

I know you have an Odyssey 7 listed on your profile - is that the one your talking about converting?

For reference regarding putter head weight

Callaway Long Putter = 450g
Callaway Belly Putter = 400g
Callaway Standard Putter = 340-360g

So you would have to add quite a bit of extra weight.

I'm also thinking of doing the same with a Odyssey 2 Ball.  It is the 'Tour Fill' model in which the slots on the sole of the putter are filled with black inserts.

does anyone know the putter head weight for this model?

Thanks

I had back troubles a few years ago and paid out £195 for a 48" 2 ball.

Since that year I've done a lot of stretching and things have improved so it's not seen much action and I could bring it along to Thorndon Park,  £80.00 and its yours.

Been using a TM Spider Belly putter (41 inches) for last 3 months and has transformed my putting.   In my last match, my foursomes partner remarked about how good my putting had been and it saved us the match really.  Well worth trying if you're struggling on the short stuff.

I also have a spare TM belly putter at the moment which I'm looking to shift on as I'm so happy with the Spider and I want to fund a purchase of the new Cleveland driver.   Its a TM Corzina (one of the ones they released as a special edition when Sergio used in it in 07 Open) which is in great condition and with a brand new Ping grip.   It is 41 inches long.

Wont you need to alter the lie angle too? Make it more upright?

To convert to a belly you would probably be ok with the standard lie.
