Appears to work well - perhaps a bit dodgy lining up, though probably only requires another 'puff' to adjust.

High initial cost though.

Yep....blow it on and then a couple of quick squirts of air whilst you tweak the alignment.

The amount of time I spend messing around with weights and stuff in my putter(s) has made the investment well worth while....both in terms of time saved in removing grips and putting them back on and the actual cost of the grips that have been saved.

even a cheap car tyre inflator seems to do the job - without the outlay.

When I tried it, I could slide grips on and off again. Only thing that I couldn't seem to do was take off a grip that had been put on conventionally.

Having said that - I was so worried about how easy the grips went on and came off again that I decided just to put them on the old fashioned way. Maybe I wouldn't have worried about a putter grip though...

Nick,

What would you use to bulk the grip up, masking tape?

i've gripped plenty of irons for both my self and others using the air compressor and not once have I experienced (or been told of any) "slippage" of grips.

Re taking grips off....no the air compressor doesnt usually work well for grips installed using tape and solvent....sometimes you can get lucky by using a medicine syringe to squirt a small amout of white spirit or grip solvent into the hole in the grip end cap....using the compressor then forces the solvent out of the shaft and down between the grip and the shaft...thus loosening the bond....this doesnt allways work mind and seems to depend as much on the grip tape that has been ased as anything.

Nick,

What would you use to bulk the grip up, masking tape?

A single layer of masking tape is often all that is needed to hold the drip in place and if you want a thicker grip....multiple layers of masking tape work just fine.

I have used an air compressor to remove grips, but I found I had use a tube over the grip to stop the grip ballooning, I used a tube from a golf bag, the type you use as a divider in the golf bag.
