Turning 40 and Treating myself
« on: Jan 03, 2019, 13:36:02 »
Afternoon all,

Sadly for me I turn the big 40 in a few weeks and basically decided to treat myself to a new putter (last time it happened I spent £200 on a seemore putter and hated it!!!). Anyhow, onwards and upwards.

Now, I also really want a set of the new JPX919 Tour's, so my question is, south of England, where would be the best place to go for putter and irons? Silvermere seems the most obvious but I have no idea how good the service will be. Plenty of custom fit/putter fitting people EM Golf looks good in Bedfordshire, suppose I would just be interested in any specific views/feedback.

Thanks in advance!
Ian

57 Graham, feck me, we were young on BSG mate!!!!
I hope you are well sir.
I've got a few weeks just yet, enough time to detox Christmas away and sneak back into my 34"

Life is too short, putter and irons probably going into a bag that will hardly see the course - got a 3 year old and 8 week old now.
I just read about golf and do the waggle test in the garage from time to time.

Did manage some good golf in October and early December mind, beating my pals with some rare solid golf - it's like riding a bike.

Hope 2019 is good to you all.

Happy birthday when the time comes. I know the feeling. Mine are 5 and 8 months. No game since early October.

I’d certainly say Silvermere is going to have the best selection. Not sure what their custom fitting is like but they have separate bays for fitting with premium range balls. You can also try anything you like on the range.

Happy birthday Ian.

I'd be inclined to book into the Mizuno facility at Bearwood Lakes for the full fitting marlarky  :thumbup1:
I love the sand belt but it's not good for keeping up trousers in the rain...

Many happy returns when it comes

Great excuse now for a proper midlife crisis style bag update!? (I tell myself that every year!!)

Can’t go wrong with the mizzies

Fitted / custom putter with your name on it, that’s the anser (boom boom....) still got my Slighter from the mid 90’s, ends up in the naughty bag every so often, but keep going back to it.

All the best, Scotty

Is there that much difference between the 900/919 tours?

If not you could bank the difference and blow it on a new expensive driver. 500 quid for the M5 or Flash

Rob,

Don't start talking common sense now!!
I agree, this is something I'm also thinking about, the new Mizuno ST190 driver looks worth a wack so I might do a bit of jiggling around!

The TM and Callaway offerings are dog shite! You heard it here first!!!

Saw a mint set of JPX900 Tour/S300  in AG last night 360 notes...nearly bought them myself....

Also saw all the new drivers and the slugger at the range was nuking the new Cobra (yellow underneath- F9?) .

Price and performance wise he reckoned it would outsell everything.

My local AG seen to be selling off all their preowned stuff, think the new owners are trying to get it off the books and get some cash in.
Before xmas that had more second hand stock than new  :scared:

is that Ramsgate or Canterbury? I've looked in the Ramsgate one in the past and the 2nd hand stuff mostly seemed overpriced rubbish
