The Moon Palace course is located within the grounds of the Moon Palace Hotel and Spa, an all inclusive resort about 10 minutes from Cancun airport. The green fee for non-hotel guests is £130, which includes buggy hire and all the food and drink that you want, be it in the bar, restaurant or from the food carts on the course. The green fee for hotel guests is £105 and also includes all of the above. The course itself is a Jack Nicklaus design (hence the price tag...) and shows his love of hazards, be they fairway bunkers, green-side bunkers or water features. There are 3 loops of 9 holes, Dunes, Jungle and Lakes. I personally played the Dunes and Jungle courses, and so cannot comment on the layout of the Lakes course, although there is (as you would expect) a lot of water judging from the photos that I have seen. The resort itself is very stylish, with an excellent range and a decent short game area. My only criticism was the fact that you had to pay £1.50 for 25 range balls, which seems a bit steep given that you are paying more than £100 to play there! The course layout was also impressive. The Dunes course had large areas of sandy wasteland on most of the holes, and a fair amount of water. All holes have multiple fairway bunkers at the obvious driving points, but they are usually sensibly placed so that they can be avoided with good course management. All of the greens are also well protected by bunkers, with most of them being deep and penal as opposed to shallow and easily playable. The Jungle course also shares a similar bunkering layout, but this time the holes are more tree lined and so straying off line is punished more than on the Dunes course. Having said that though, the fairways tended to be very generous, so you never felt too pressured off of the tee. I've certainly played much tougher driving layouts, as my 13/14 FIR indicated rather well. The greens seemed to be consitent across both layouts, and luckily they were consistently excllent, being both very fast and very true. No bobbles around the holes, and no unexpected borrows - just lovely greens to putt on. The sand in the bunkers was also excellent, and VERY deep! More than once I left the ball in the bunker after being caught out by the depth and softness of the sand, a real change from a lot of the crap that we have to put up with in the UK!Overall I enjoyed the course, but wasn't thrilled by it. There were a couple of great long par 3s and some very tough par 4s, but some of the holes were also a little dull for my liking, with bunkers providing the only real challenge. The rough was almost non existant and so the penalty for missing the fairways was minimal (unless water was in play or you were very wild and found the jungle). Only my nightmares in the bunkers stopped me breaking 80. It's definitely a resort course that is set up to be easy enough for rich Americans to play without being overly punished.Condition = 9/10Layout = 7/10Value = 6/10Overall = 7/10
I think you'll find that's 7.33 recurring/10.

You expect him to post holiday pics of him and his girlfriend on the web? No wonder you lot elected Sarkozy.
I proposed to my now wife at the Moon Palace eight years ago but the golf course wasn't built then.
It's a great place for a holiday. So good in fact that we've already booked up to go back next year!
It's my dream holiday destination! We made the mistake of trying to 'upgrade' on the Moon Palace by booking our honeymoon at Sandals in St Lucia. We went for a fancy villa, paid four or five times what we paid at Moon Palace and had half as much fun. Be warned!
