Sound like this place is worth a visit.  :)

I think I'm staying over the night before the Ryder cup around Gatwick.

I think AndrewPI is seeing them the day before. Pose as Andrew on the phone, cancel his booking and slot yourself in  ::laugh:

The fact that I'm splitting the cost of a room with Andrew might make that a bad Idea.

Planning on leaving Troon early on the Thursday morning so I'll see how it goes time wise.

Here is my tuppence worth as regards Gilroys.

I went along for a fitting on Thursday afternoon and I found the set up excellent. I went for a full fitting and Mike seemed happy for me to try out as many different clubs as I wanted.

I have never been very technical when it comes to custom fitted clubs and have always used the principal of hitting different clubs and taking the ones that felt the best. It was very interesting to see the performance of various combinations of iron heads and shafts and the fact that I can hit my driver properly but due to certain factors it is not overly consistant.

I spent 3 hours hitting different combinations and to be honest I could probably spent another 3 hours happily.

At the end of the day I think I need to get saving for a new set of Irons, I expect to see an improvement in driver consistency and I have a shiny new putter so it was a very worthwhile experience.

All I need is for Mike to send me through my stats as people asked me what some of them were and what driver shaft I had gone for and for the life of me I can't remember.

Highly recommend if you are in the area to book some time with Mike and Jason.

I went to see Mike on Thursday before Stevie for a fitting and have to say it was well worth the trip. Mike took the trouble to ensure I understood fully what we were looking for and how each option would have an effect. Eventually found that the Nippon NS 1150 would be the most suited for me, getting a tad more distance and a lot tighter dispersion with them and they felt very nice to use. We then had a look at my driver and decided that before looking at any change of shaft I should look to get it shortened by and inch and some extra weight added to the head.

I then said I was finding my hybrid tough to get on with now. Basically the shaft I had was too whippy for me. Mike had a spare FT hybrid with a Bassara shaft fitted, I tried it out and after the 1st few went around 215 I had to take it. Think Stevie could tell straight away that I was going to take it.

While waiting for Stevie to finish his session Jason took some time to look at my putting. He pointed out that the ball was too central in my stance so I couldn't put a decent roll on to the ball, moved it forward a bit and then also changed the loft on my putter which helped. Looking forward to having a proper session in the putting studio sometime in the near future.

Overall, I can echo previous comments and say it is a great place to visit. Can't wait to get up again to have a look at my driver and putting when I can, and for my reshafted irons to turn up.
