Email i sent Sureshot on 14 Jan

Hi

Can you tell me if the

a) Original Sureshot
b) Sureshot 8800

are legal for competition use if my club has adopted the wording as suggested by the R&A.

My understanding is that the Original SureShot is illegal and the SureShot 8800 is legal. But i can't see why this would be the case.
My understanding is both would be illegal due to Decisions  14-3/16

http://randapublic.loghar.com/flash/decisions/decisions.html

Can you please provide any decision the R&A has made on either/both devices as evidence as to their legality.

Thanks

Ian

I literally just received a reply:

Hi Ian,

Thank you for your email.

Sureshot legality is dependant on local rules. Some state-based governing bodies have approved it for use, but it is still subject to local rules. We would recommending checking its legality with the course at which you are playing.

Best regards,
