Apparently, my club committee are having a meeting this evening to discuss, amongst other things, a request from several members to allow conforming GPS systems for use in competitions.I can't believe Mike's influence has got this far south but, apparently, several of the committee members are against them as "some people can't afford them".I have written to the club committee asking them to reconsider this position and, additionally, requesting that if they don't, I would like electric trolleys, any driver over £100, all sets of irons over £300, Galvin Greens (and similar) and anyone who has paid for one-one golf tuition to be banned from future competitions in the same vein. Not sure what the response will be though
Problem is though Si, the committee does have the power to ban GPS, but cannot ban any of the other equipment that you mentioned. The blame should go to the R&A for giving us this situation where neighbouring golf courses can essentially play by different rules at the discretion of the committee. They should have been allowed or banned, not this stupid middle ground.
More local - my club and the committee still says no for competitionsw4nkersWhy did they think I joined the committee in the first place - it was not to be out voted by "old" folk
Or it could just be that normal/average* groups of golfers agree with the idea of fair play *i.e. non internet forum Techy geeks
That's how democracy works ...
Don't you mean old decrepit men who couldn't program a video player let allow understand how the devils toy (GPS) could work without wires !!! not on my golf course is their cry !!
