On the North East Coast. The course is set overlooking the industrial heart of ICI (I think). The views leave something to be desired with large industrial buildings all around. Clubhouse and pro shop are very friendly and very old. Changing rooms could do with a makeover!Course has 22 holes and the day we played the course was 7373 yards off the whites and 7015 off the yellows. Put it together with a 40 mph wind and this is a very stern test of anyones golf! We played 4 par 5s, 13 par 4s and 1 par 3. Great course with fantastic greens. Very open on typical links land although it is quite flat. Tough because of the length and the weather.Play it on a Monday using 2Fore1 - £17.50 and you won't be disappointed.Rating 8/10
It doesn't have 27 holes but 22 (or 23). Much of it was designed by Alastair Mackenzie.
Never played it, but I did used to walk my dogs round near it and always looked a top class place. Gets great reviews, but admittedly if you're not used to the industrial Teesside views its not got the beauty of Turnberry etc.If I ever go home it's a course I intend to play.
Cooling Tower v Lighthouse?!?Only one winner for me!
Going to try & play here this weekend as I'm going to sunny Hartlepool for a games competition.Looking forward to it as it looks s a decent course.
Where are you staying? Recommend Hillcarter Hotel on the main strip - with it's glass spiral staircase.........Track is definitely worth a game - just remember though a marker post on about the 15/16th that if you hit it straight over then you are OOB - need to be well left of post.Other good tracks local are Wynyard Club of Seve Trophy fame, and also Cleveland the other side of the Tees
Bizarrely the gaming geeks think I'm a bit weird because I like to get up early to squeeze in a round of golf - pot/kettle!
Did you enjoy it inoculator?Trying to get a game with my bro organised for the weekend, so it's this or Cleveland.
