The Vale - Discuss
« on: Jul 30, 2009, 13:09:36 »
As I’m new I want to make it clear I hope to be one of the positive contributors on here who post on the great things in golf and how it enhances the lives of all of us. So in order to benefit my fellow forum members I thought I’d review this following course.

Short Review

Don’t ever play this course.

Longer review

This course is unique.  It has not a single redeeming feature.

If it has rained in the previous month then it’s a swamp (remember this is Wales).   Even the feature holes are c+++.  Who wants to play a hole with an “Eighty five yard WIDE green”?  (My emphasis)  I.e. you fire one at the pin and you’re oponent shanks his. How pleased are you to see he’s still managed to land on the green?  It’s listed at something like 7600 yards, so walking not only do you have to keep crossing roads but you have to walk 100 yards down the par 4’s to where they actually let mortals play from.  They had a Europro Tour event there a few years ago and one competitor told me that if I ever repeated his opinion of the place on the web then he’d kill me because the tour would ban him for life.  You probably think I’m exaggerating. I’m not, if I had more time I’d go into detail about holes that are naff copiers of ones at Celtic Manor and the Belfry, but I won’t because I’m kind.

Very short review.

Avoid .

(NB careful they keep changing the name - don’t fall for it.)

So you didnt like it then  :chuckle:

Feckin' hilarious - well done!   I was going to make some comments about 3puttwizard until I reread the line "Who wants to play a hole with an “Eighty five yard WIDE green”?".  Wide fairways is one thing, but...

And on the other hand, with 80 yards to the pin who the feck wants to use a putter?!

I played it earlier this year and thought it was a good course.

Some cracking holes and even though a couple of greens may be 65 yards ward you still have to come over two humps about two ft high!! if you can putt that in 1 from 65 yards you are a better (or luckier) player than me :chuckle:.

It is a long course and my own bad point would be that the 18th is not great finishing hole when compared to some of the others.

Count me in for a round there for the masters... mind you could be dangerous they stock miura's
