Underarmour Coldgear - Discuss
« on: Dec 23, 2007, 16:54:01 »
I bought one of the UA Coldgear tee shirts the other day. Despite not being able to get one in the right size and going upto XXXL  :omg:, the tee shirt still fits very snugly. My wife didn't know whether to laugh or cry when I tried it on. It pulls everything up and in which is fine, until you start to take it off and there's something akin to a fleshy tidal wave effect from out of the bottom

Anyway, it's meant to keep you warm when it's cold.

It does. I wore the UA, a poloshirt and jumper and was never cold yesterday.

So far, so good.

Apparently the only the only downsides are spousal giggling and instructions to cold wash it separately. Ha ! That'll teach her to laugh.  ;)

The price (approx £30) knocks a point off but otherwise 9/10

Anyone have a sports world nearby,
they do a campri sportsbase layer £19.99 reduced to £5.99 will tell you what they are like when i use it on thursday

I use Canterbury versions (both hot and cold - depending) every time i play golf.  I probably own a dozen of them!

Means i can stay warm with fewer layers.

I'm guessing it very similar to UA.

Currently sporting some of the North Face merino wool shirts.

Really warm and as my brother is a manager in a well known outdoor store, much cheapness also!

Merino wool rocks...but not cheap unless you are in NZ (or you have a brother :))

You're right Ian, some of the prices scare me but he provides at trade price, which when you see the mark up they put on them is the really scary thing!

Merino is the next best thin to Cashmere - which I got a few 'cheap' roll tops of.

Unfortunately (for a Kiwi) Australia is the major source of Merino Wool, though that could be changing as NZ 'diversifies'.

My choice is a warm roll-top with a (Cross) waterproof top. If it's really cold, the 'flaps-down' Goretex hat comes out, but normally a thermalite beanie is sufficientg. It's the knuckles I need to address now - the thermalite gloves don't warm up fast enough between shots - probably would if I hit further though!

You noticed that as well?  I usually take a XXL t-shirt, but my pro suggested I buy the XL coldgear shirt, which I duely did. By God, did it fit snug, but once in it, it is a great job. The first time I tried it, it didn't keep me as warm as I was expecting, but that was on a freezing night at the range, with loads of wind, and standing in the same spot for 2 hours. Once you are up and walking in it, carrying a bag around 9 or 18 holes it really comes into its own. Best £30 quid I've spent in a long time for winter golf.
