Short sleeve waterproofs
« on: Jun 02, 2014, 13:58:22 »
As it is going to piss down at the weekend and be hot I thought about how horrible those conditions are to play in. Have you ever worn short sleeved waterproofs? Are they worth while?

Ive got a short sleeve Galvin Green paclite top.  Great when its absolutely lashing down in summer as it doesnt get too hot/sticky.

Absolutely great in the summer. I have a FJ one that I wear if it's warm and raining - far cooler than long sleeve ones.

I also have a short sleeved top - which is showerproof not fully waterproof - but can certainly recommend the theory - you don't get too hot and wet arms don't really matter when it's warm or hot - I also used to often play in shorts in the rain - hence my moniker - as again as long as it's not lashing down will dry out pretty quickly when it stops and is much more comfortable than waterproofs

Note latest stuburt is now only water repellant

I've got a Zero Restriction Goretex Pac-Lite half sleeve top and a sleeveless Proquip goretex top that I use in the summer.

There have been some ZR gear on ebay recently so worth a search as they are as good as Galvin but without the silly prices

I've got a short sleeve windshirt. I just ran it under the tap for a bit and it appears to be waterproof. So that should do the trick. Thanks all.

I've got a Goretex Callaway one where the sleeves zip out. I love the versatility of it.

I have a short sleeve wind shirt which I use a lot in the summer.

One handy thing I bought to go with it was a set of baselayer sleeves which help layer up and give you options if the weather is changeable.

Hahaha - helpful!  Well I have a Ralph Lauren Polo showerproof 1/2 sleeve top.  It's very good and I can see the merits in getting a "proper" 1/2 sleeve waterproof; howver if it's raining I find I've got to the point where I find something to do rather than golf!

Absolutely !!  If its hosing down, gone are the days when I even venture out...... :gay:......there might well be merit in the Zero Restriction stuff that Gary likes....I think they and maybe even Footjoy, do the zippy off sleeves....so one jacket does both !!
