Callaway X Utility

Anybody tried one ? Despite being part of the "Seniors" Brigade....the past weekend has proved to me that I can still generate the SS necessary ( c.103 m.p.h. driver ) to play long irons successfully....37,36 and 36 points all off the Back Stabs at Dunbar, Goswick and Dunbar respectively off 3/4 h'cap. ( Cue : licks his own balls....
)
Anyhow, I'm still seriously out of love with fairway wood -type Hybrids - I have been swapping between both a GD Tour AD-Titty 913Hd and a Matrix Altus ( I think ? ) shafted Tourstage Prototype something-or -other....but.....been thinking I might try a Cally X Utility with steel shaft - ideally a 3 iron ( 21 deg ) replacement - even more the case since I seem to be playing and probably will play a lot over the winter ....of Links Golf.
Anyone any experience of the Cally ? I might even get back to a 712U........I know, been there, done that..

Tried it earlier in the year Graham along with the Titleist & Mizuno variants.
Just couldn't get on with any of them - was the 4 iron version but actually hit my own 4 iron better - go figure
I think I just wasn't comfortable over the look of it behind the ball & my mind got in the way - if you can ignore that then give it a go - by the sound of it you're hitting the ball well so get out there & hit one before your swing returns to normal
As always it's probably going to be a matter of getting a demo day & giving it a hit.

I tried an X-utility a few months ago but just couldnt hit the thing.
I like the look of the Titleist 712u and will probably have a hit with one alongside the new Callaway Apex utility when it arrives in a few weeks time.
I also hit and owned one of the Mizuno MP-4 hybrid irons and that worked quite well....easily as long as my 5-wood.
Currently am using a Cleveland LDI which I picked up for £15 off ebay...this I like a lot....just need to fine tune it swingweight wise....does seem to be a growing (slowly) segment of the market as manufacturers realise that not every one likes hybrids.

I'll be having a demo of the Taylormade UDI if I can find one in the 2 iron, I'd only want it for off the tee though
