Matchplay/Handicap ruling please.
« on: May 04, 2017, 18:55:19 »
Strange one came up today. A friend was playing a match on Tuesday night him off 9(9.4) his opponent off 11 giving 2 shots, our 16th is index 2. The match was abandoned after 15 due to lack of light and it was agreed to commence play on Thursday. He played in the Wednesday medal and went up 0.1 so now off 10.
Does he still have to give a shot now that the difference is only 1? I'd say he does but would like clarity.

Logic would tell me that his handicap at the start of the match would apply.

I'm sure Nick or Colin can give the answer

I reckon they continue based on original handicaps. What if your mate had been cut instead of gone up? he can't give back a shot to his opponent on a hole they already played...

I am pretty sure the handicaps that were in place at the start of the match are what matters
Ping G25 9 Degree Ping TFC Regular
3 wood - TM V Steel Tour Issue - RIP Phenom Regular
5 wood - TM V Steel Tour Issue - RIP Phenom Regular
Rescues - 19&23 Mizuno MP650 - Orochi Regular
Mizuno MX300 5-PW Dynalite Gold Regular
Cleveland Rotex 2.0 Blade 50 & 56 (2 dot) - Dynamic Gold Regular
Putter - Wilson Staff 8883 (Black)
Pro V1 or Srixon AD333 Tour

More spare clubs, particularly 3 woods, than is feasible but less than I had!
