Who's your pick for this week?

I love the sand belt but it's not good for keeping up trousers in the rain...

Willett E/W at 100-1 on PP - top 10.

Fast & Firm means that it will be a luck game as much as anything - DJ hitting 3 iron last night on the range 300 yrds says it all..........

Fairways are undulating unlikely Hoylake last time an Open was played with brown fairways - so lots of unlucky bounces / lucky bounces.

A few guys saying the greens are playing slow as they'll barely have been cutting them due to the heat. Will be interesting to see what they do over the weekend if the wind stays calm.

If no or little wind got to think Rory might have a chance especially if some others also struggle on the greens.

Rose and Fowler stick out for me - but with the conditions I would think about 30 of them have a good chance with a bit of luck with the run and bounces they’ll get this week

Scoring looks like it could be good this afternoon - very benign conditions.

Have to say I think this was an absolutely fantastic Open Championship, with an excellent winner who is one of the on form players in the world at the moment. Course was presented brilliantly (even if the greens were perhaps a touch to soft for the first 3 days), and even with little wind the curse was no push over, despite great scores from individuals on one day they couldn't repeat it for two or more days, clearly even without it's severe rough Carnoustie is still a very difficult course, and I believe Molinari was the only player in the field not to have a bogey at the weekend, which is quite an achievement.

It was very different to see players hitting ¾ wedges into 18 (a 500 yard hole) where in the past we have seen hybrids and long irons in the past. I also thought that it was interesting that none of the normal bombers (other than Rory) were really in contention come the weekend (Dustin, Koepka (sp), Bubba , JT all gone) , as length wasn't the differentiator that it is on a long softer course. Was great to see Langer in the mix as he wasn't forced to hit Drivers followed by fairway woods!

So many players had a run at the title on the last day, made for an excellent Championship, where we were talking about the players and the course not how the organisers set up the pins, made it unplayable and cocked up on course rules decisions.
