Superstroke grip removal
« on: Feb 15, 2019, 14:02:29 »
Anyone ever tried to remove a Superstroke grip, with a grip removal tool (as opposed to cutting it off)?

I have my doubts if it's possible, but wondered if anyone had tried before I give it a go...

And before anyone says compressed air - I don't have an air compressor and the grip was installed with tape.

I've done it, if you are very careful and use lots of spirits you can get them off ok.  Too much twiddling around and it stretches the inside of the grip and kills it (bought a putter on eBay that had a grip like that).

I've done a few no issues.

I use the Brampton HF-100 for all my grip saves. It is oilier than white spirit so makes it easier for tough grips like the SS.

The hardest grips to remove with the tool are actually Iomics. You have to be really careful not to pierce the grip as they are so stretchy.

Come off easy enough with spirit. If it warps simply stick it on a radiator (dry obviously) and you can remould it however you like

I've done it a couple of times too Col,
lots of white spirit and patience with the removal tool
Sounds like I was lucky as it didnt warp and I actually found it very slightly easier than a normal tour velvet for example as there was less stretch in the material.

Scotty  ;)
