Possibly. He also missed the fairway on 2 with an iron.

It must have knocked his confidence

Have to say the course looks great, and very tough. Rough is brutal in places and I'm not sure that the double out of bounds on the first is very fair.

Always knew the pressure on him would be immense but even in the practice round yesterday he looked very nervous and hit a lot of really ill judged/poor shots. If he can somehow get back to level he is not out of it although in looking at the forecast it is lousy and he's rarely performed well in such conditions....

Great reception for DC and he knocked round well for level.

Been to Portrush once but didn't play the course but it looked amazing.......it's always raining there even if the sun is out  :thumbup1:
I love the sand belt but it's not good for keeping up trousers in the rain...

Had a trip there with some friends a good few years back (some are on here) we played Portrush and County Down, the weather/light was much better at RCD and I preferred that, but it was a bit like picking between a Ferrari and an Aston Martin.

Was a very good course (2 new holes now of course so not exactly what we played - I seem to remember one of our guys - who I won't name - knocked one over the road going down the old 18th) with some fantastic holes. A very welcoming club, nice clubhouse and we even saw Darren and his kids who had just moved back to NI around the clubhouse.

Really hope so. Arrived in Ireland this evening on route to watch the final round. The home support is massive just hope he can deal with the pressure

Have a feeling Tommy Fleetwood will win today but would be delighted if Lowry prevails.

Would be nice if Lowry wins as all the pre Open talk was about Rory and G-Macs late qualification.

Throughly enjoyed the Open in Portrush, thought the fans were amazing, course was a great test (although not a huge fan of internal OOB). Good to see so many GB & Ire golfers play well.

Would have loved Tommy to win, but Shane’s lead was just too much the way he played today. He completely deserved his win and the home crowd got what they wanted, even if it wasn’t who they expected. What a performance by Bob McIntrye to finish top Scot, great potential for the future.

From what I saw it was a great tournament and a worthy winner. Nice to see a winner who doesn't spend too much time in the gym too!

Played 18 at RSG early this morning with hardly anyone on the course. Weird to think in 12 months time there'll be 40000 people there

Booked tickets for Friday at RSG next year. Both boys are now playing and enjoying the game so they are looking forward to it.
