Isn't it always the case if England do something Scotland has to question/doubt it and do something different :banghead: :chuckle:

Part 2....an explanation of COURSE RATING (roughly equivalent to SSS under the CONGU scheme) and an introduction to SLOPE RATING.

Explanations as to HOW you use these things will come later...this is just an understanding what they ARE.

You're going to a huge amount of trouble to do this.  You do know there is a Player's Guide coming out shortly together with the  the handicapping  rules?

Didn't know there was going to be a players guide but there is already a thirst ???? for knowledge amongst our club members which I thought would be good to fulfill.

Also...by "teaching" it to others it reinforces your own knowledge (assuming my knowledge is correct)!!

Plus, if you don't tell them stuff then they only go and get it from possibly less than accurate sources. We had this issue over the 2019 rule changes and we had to spend a good deal of time 're-educating our members and correcting some of the bad things that had learned.

Just trying to avoid similar things happening...especially when I still hear of members telling each other that every casual round they play has to be submitted for handicap under the wAS and that gimmes and best guesses about what they are likely to score will be ok in comps!!!

The current "toolkit" from England Golf is woefully high level and really doesn't answer many of the questions our members have. I'm just trying to do the very best by my members...all through the process my handicap Secretary and I have been less than impressed by a lot of the official communication so we are putting together our own material.

Interested to see if anything happens to my handicap in November.
16 0.1’s and 4 buffers in the last 20 rounds. Might play 1 more before then.

Depends on how bad the 0.1s were. If you've got 4 scores in the buffer then only 4 of the scores that got you 0.1 are likely to feature in your best 8.

That seems fairer, i never understood how missing buffer by 1 or 10 under the current system is somehow "the same"

That may be a "special Scotland thing" as there is nothing in the Manual to suggest anything like that.

Maybe that's why Scotland Golf wanted to go with their own Software solution so that features like that could be built in.

I will put my hand up and say I've not read many/any of the previous posts. Do I as an 'ordinary' member really need to know how it all works? Doesn't HDID just tell me my handicap? My club has made absolutely no mention in any way to the members that the handicap system is changing never mind any information on anything to do with it.
