US Open 2021
« on: Jun 18, 2021, 09:41:20 »
Course looks brutal that even the "bombers" might struggle to overcome it.....plus the weather might play it's part. Given that the form book goes out the window pretty much.

8 hour time difference doesn't help either so we've got a few late nights ahead  :omg:

My picks, in no order;

Louis Oosthuizen

Adam Scott

Charl Schwartzel

And outsider;

Cameron Smith (FFS, loose the mullet man..... :gay:)
I love the sand belt but it's not good for keeping up trousers in the rain...

Didn't watch it at all last night and have no idea how they got on. I'm afraid my own golf and the Euro's have my attention right now. I'm not a massive fan of Torey Pines either which I suspect has something to do with it...

On recent form only I'd have to favour Rahm, if the rough is thick then maybe Fitzpatrick (but it might be a bit long to suit him), or Hatton. Westwood to place along with Koepka.

Just looked at the scores - Richard Bland sitting just outside the top 10 at -1, what a man!

Nice to see Rory managed to have a half decent opening round too - make a change!

Course might suit a "steady Eddie" type so that's why Bland showed well last night I think.

By the way, did anyone catch the interview before the first round with Rory and what he was wearing?!?!?

Unbelievable final day - managed to stay up until after Rahm holed out on 18, then had to go to bed - thought that might have done it.

Very pleased for him, especially after what happened to him at Memorial a couple of weeks back.

Rory's game wasn't quite on on the final day - had had enough putts early on to have put some real pressure on the leaders, but just didn't go in. Then terrible break when he got plugged under the back lip of the bunker (on 12?) just did it for him. Got to feel for Louis as well - what is that now 6 2nd place finishes in Majors???

Was a brilliant final round and Jon Rahm won in great style. I can see him winning 4-5 more majors over the next 10 years with ease and becoming an even more formidable Ryder Cup competitor than his debut in Paris.

Rory really does need a kick up his a*** or he's going to become a bit part player and not the great champion he could, and should be. I really wonder if it's his mental approach and the fact he's just so amazingly rich/successful now that his "hunger" or "passion" has just gone.....plus being married and a Father too seems to not spur him on either - unlike Rahm for example.

And yes Louis has now got six 2nd places in majors and rarely looked like winning any of them in the last round/last vital few holes. Needs to learn how to close them out or he'll go backwards.

Always great to see the "golfing gorilla" (BDC  :D) mess it up again  :thumbup:
